Kidney Replacement Medical Fund

Ken and Beth Mick and their 4 childrenHi, my name is Ken Mick and I have inherited Polycystic Kidney Disease. While this disease usually progresses when one is in the late 50's - 60's, God jump started mine in my mid 40's.  I was most likely facing dialysis three times a week by January 2009, and employment would suffer. A friend volunteered to be a donor. We were a close match and the transplant occurred on January 16, 2008.

My kidney function was at 15% and now is a healthy 60%+. The doctors are very pleased with my recovery and healing. I am on a lifetime of steroids and anti-rejection medicine. These are covered for three years. After this time I could be facing up to $15,000 a year for meds. I have set up a medical trust fund to help cover these costs. The first goal is to build the trust up to $80,000 in 3 years. The interest should cover health care premiums and 25% of yearly medicine costs.

I am father to four children ages 9-16. Beth and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary in June.

I am the pastor for Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Savoy, MA  To supplement my income, I am the housekeeper and groundskeeper at Lakeside Christian Camp and Conference Center in Pittsfield, Ma..
